It is with huge sadness that we announce the passing of one of our beloved residents, who was confirmed as positive for COVID-19 on admission to hospital last weekend. This person passed away peacefully last night in Torbay hospital. Our thoughts are very much with their family and friends.
This news was on the back of receiving confirmation from Public Health England earlier this week that we are now considered to have a Confirmed Outbreak of COVID-19 at The Croft. This confirmation came after a second resident was confirmed as COVID-19 positive after being tested earlier in the week. That person is still residing at The Croft and is currently asymptomatic. Three other residents are demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19 and are to be tested this weekend. All relatives of these residents are receiving regular updates on the status of their loved ones.
Our team continue to be committed and diligent in their infection control and containment measures to protect residents, and each other, during this outbreak. Their resilience and stoicism in the face of this latest set-back is amazing, and we are very proud of them all.
At this stage The Croft is well supplied with all the necessary PPE, mainly as a result of our own procurement efforts. Accessing further COVID-19 Testing for residents and staff is proving more challenging and protracted than we had expected, which has been frustrating. However, we believe we have achieved a break-through this weekend, and expect to be able to provide Testing for residents and staff, who are showing symptoms, within the next 48 hours.
